FAQ:
How much are dues?
$70 per semester - $140 total
How many hours a week is usually dedicated to pledging Kappa Psi?
We are a professional fraternity, and as such, we understand that school comes first. As we’ve mentioned before, there are 10 meetings and 3 weekend events that are required. Our meetings have been planned around the P1 testing and skills lab schedule, and we will try to work around any conflicts you may have. The pledging process has been designed to promote your growth and development, and you can put as little or as much time as you want into it. That being said, what you put in is what you will get out.
Actives - "1-2 hour meetings, but what you put in is what you will get out."
What makes Kappa Psi different from the other fraternities?
The relationships we share w/in Kappa Psi are not confined within our chapter. the relationship w/in our fraternity extends throughout our chapter and throughout other chapters. Our relationships even extend beyond graduation. We keep saying that Kappa Psi is for life, and it’s true. Our graduate brothers are always there to support us, and you can see that even today. We have several graduate brothers who will share their experiences with Kappa Psi.
Actives - Up to your discretion, but please remember not to bash other organizations, keep a neutral tone as to not speak negatively. Remind them that they do not have to join a fraternity.
How many mandatory meetings are there a week?
There will be mostly one but up to two mandatory meetings per week
Were there any people from Kappa Psi that didn't make it to the next year, and how many?
There have been in the past but that may not necessarily be due to pledging, everyone last year made it to the next year.
What considerations are given to classwork?
School is the number one priority, our scholarship chairs will assist in every way possible when they can.
What can you tell us about the pledging process and its requirements?
There will be 8-10 mandatory meetings and 3 weekend mandatory events
I heard that meetings are mandatory and it happens almost every week, but what if tests and assignments are coming up and we aren't able to make it since we need more studying time. Will we be able to re-arrange the meetings ahead of time?
Actives - Our meetings are planned around the P1's test schedule and we recognize that school is a priority.
Do you guys offer review sessions a week before our exam dates?
The scholarship chairs can hold reviews and one on one sessions if asked
Why were you guys so serious during Orientation? Is it since KY was originally founded at a military? So are we going to be trained that way also (excluding the physical and vigorous forces)?
There is a time to be stoic and professional and there is a time to joke around. You need to be able to make a first impression and act as a professional on the job when you become a pharmacist. Yes Kappa Psi was founded at a military academy. While we do not condone hazing, we do respect our history and traditions. Our facutly advisor, Dr. Williams will be present at all meetings monitoring activities to preserve your safety and comfort at all times.
Actives - "Although we honor our military founded background, we do not condone hazing.
If you pledge, does that guarantee that you won't be dropped?
Actives - "Brotherhood is built upon mutual respect, respect isn't just given out but developed over time. The question is will that person be okay joining the brotherhood when he or she and everyone around him or her know that said person has not earned that respect?"
Questions about people failing
Unfortunately we are not allowed to disclose that kind of personal information. However, regardless of what fraternity or organizations you choose to join, time management is an important skill to have for pharmacy school.
